Site Support – Magnetite

By 8 December 2021No Comments

GTE would like to thank our team who have been providing both on-site and off-site engineering support to one of our most valued clients based near Karratha, WA.

We have been providing engineering services over the past five years to our client, who has the largest magnetite mining and processing operation in Australia. Services we have provided include:

  • On-site process control system support
  • 24/7 call-out support for breakdowns
  • As-building and back-drafting of electrical drawings
  • Upgrades to conveyor winch and brake instruments and associated control
  • Implementing an iba data acquisition system
  • Feasibility studies
  • Preparation of a VSD Asset Management Plan
  • VSD drive repairs

Many thanks to all the GTE team members who have been providing operational site support – especially those spending time on site away from their families during the holiday/festive season, we very much appreciate your dedication and commitment.

If you would like further information on our control systems, electrical, communications, functional safety or site support capabilities – feel free to contact me via email: [email protected]

Some additional information on magnetite:

  • Magnetite is one of the major ores of iron, and its most distinctive property is its magnetism, as it is the most magnetic mineral in the world.
  • Magnetite ore produces lower carbon emissions when being processed, compared with other iron ores.
  • Additionally, the end product from magnetite ore is also of higher quality as it has less impurities, making it a premium product that can be sold to steel makers for higher prices.
