GTE were engaged by a client to install a stockyard interim striker system that restricts the movement range of mobile rail mounted machines.

The system allows users to safety isolate active mining areas without having to fully isolate the stockyard machines. The system works by stopping the long travel and slew motion drives at fixed positions using the interim strikers, which can quickly be locked into and out of service. The system was developed using Functional Safety principles as a Safety Integrity Level 1 (SIL1) system to the following standards: AS62061, ISO13849, AS61508, AS4024.
