GTE were engaged to replace 60 network switches across our client’s enterprise network. The switches were situated across multiple mine sites, ports and CBD locations. The existing switches were from multiple hardware manufacturers and were replaced with standardised Cisco Catalyst 9000 series switches to improve maintenance outcomes.

The work GTE performed on this project included the identification and remediation of any design gaps, hardware testing, risk assessments for implementation, compliance with strict change management protocols and most importantly the safe execution of the works.

The enterprise switches in the project scope provide operational communications for our client’s business systems. It was therefore critically important for the success of the project that the installation and commissioning of the replacement switches had zero impact on these systems.

GTE were able to accelerate the works and finish ahead of schedule while maintaining a quality outcome for the client and ensuring that there was no downtime to their critical business systems.
