Switchboard Upgrade

GTE’s client required the replacement of three existing 415V switchboards with a new motor control centre and multiple distribution boards for an ore car repair shop. A key objective of the project was to replace the three existing switchboards with a new, single (main) Power Distribution Point (PDP) to reduce electrical hazards in the workshop and to increase safety, reliability and maintainability.

GTE completed the full electrical design for the new switchboard, including preparation of all project drawings, and modified the existing design so that distribution boards built into the original switchboard were replaced with standalone distribution boards to create more useable space in the workshop area. GTE provided a turnkey solution for the project engaging structural and civil engineering disciplines to complete the design as well as liaising with multiple electrical vendors in sourcing the best equipment design for the brownfield environment. A key to our successful delivery of the project was our engagement with key client stakeholders to develop the cutover strategy to achieve the desired outcome and efficiently manage interfaces with other work groups during the cutover period. Our electrical team provided more than just the basic project deliverables – we provided a turnkey solution and leveraged our experience to effectively manage the integration of that solution to provide our client peace of mind.
